If anybody wants to be like... e-famous and cool, I know just the way. Collective Music... me... I... need a nifty graphic to display my not so trendy title on. I could offer... like maybe.. a pencil pouch or a stolen Cafeteria bowl or something, but not much else. I think the ad s made me like 23 cents over the past year. Go me.

Who's down for making trendy graphics? I'll give you a hella-good link spot. (3,000 hits this week) E-mail me (blalock.matt@gmail.com)

I really am forgetful.

Now that comment has had time to settle, please, please, please, please do not expect regularity with my blog. Regularity is defined as posts everyday. I can post a couple times a week depending on my work-load and partying-load (yes, I am a terrible person).

So I'm still laughing at George W. Bush talking about "the google" and "the internets" but that aside, I have some... real stuff.

There is this beautiful musician my lovely friend played for me in prep. for a Halloween party Sat. night who I am obsessing over. Her website seems out of date, but I love the music. Seems she received a great deal of discussion during the peak of summer, but I feel this is about the perfect time of year to enjoy such beauty. So here are the mp3's on her site, but let me inform you - her album is amazing.

"Crazy Dreams"
"Springtime Can Kill You"
"Old Fashion Morphine"
"Black Stars"
"I Wanna Die"
"Black Hand Blues"

So I'm rushing this one out to go see Alice in Wonderless Land in a few minutes, but not to worry, plenty of wholesome goodness here.

I keep hearing about some "Asian shit" from my musically inclined friends. Lullatone, a Japansese duo who play with toys. Yeah, sounds good huh? Same thing I though. See, the music is comprised mostly of those little Playskool keyboards and xylophones - which sounds corny, but I find it to be very soothing, in a kids running around your room kind of way. The music is surprisingly structured, and actually very, very, very enjoyable. Check them out.

Lullatone Bushman's Samba
Lullatone Music For Apartments

Check out their website here.

San Francisco band Scissors For Lefty have been actively touring the US with bands like The Arctic Monkeys and Panic! At The Disco. No plans for a US release of their new album Bruno yet, but here is what we got for now. I'm really liking them, and I really hope you already know about them, but I found not too many people do. They deserve better! Check 'em out on MySpace.

About six months ago, I strayed from the path of writing this blog. I weaned myself off quite quickly, and within... oh say... an hour, I was finished and felt alright about my decision.

I had built a nice team of 20 or so writers. Then we all departed ways at the end of the academic year. We had all planned to continue, but it proved so difficult, and I wanted to simply just lie in the sun, pretending I didn't exist. Whe time came to head back to the campus we werent heading the same way. Last year, most of us were going to UNC-Greensboro. Naveed, who held a short position as co-editor, ended up at Chapel Hill; many "withdrew;" some are now on the missing persons list; and I transferred over to Guilford College, a little bity private Quaker school. It is certainly more my style - more challenging and definitely more community oriented.

Happy and now pretty well adjusted, I find myself a bit bored late at night (insomnia). I thought maybe I should give blogging another shot, eh, theres only about 8 million music blogs now anyway, so why not join em'?

Here I am. Here we go.

This go-round I plan to be a bit more personal, I plan to more flexible about what I write.
Tomorrow I will have my first real post, but for now, heres to many more, enjoy these mp3's I dug up around the net for your pleasure. (Expect MANY more mp3's with each post.)
